Department Overview

Head of Department: Prof. Ravendra Kumar Sharma

The department of commerce was established in the year 2017 with the goal of advancing undergraduate and graduate education in the field, with a focus on applied and theoretical commerce. Through its different courses, the department offers comprehensive and in-depth teaching in theoretical and applied commerce, staffed by a team of highly trained and experienced faculty members. The department's primary goal is to provide competent personnel who can analyze accounting and audit at various levels. The department's graduates are in high demand on job markets, and their success rates in various national exams, such as those administered by commercial banks, private corporate business houses, and manufacturing and commercial firms, are above the average.

The department introduced a bachelor level programme of B.Com. (Honours) in Commerce under self-finance mode in the academic year 2017-18, and M.Com from the academic year 2018-19. The Board of Studies modified the curriculum for these programmes on a regular basis to ensure that they are upadated with the times. The Department's classrooms are well furnished. Additionally, the department has a computer lab where students can learn and practices financial and statistical software. There is an extensive collection of books of excellent quality in the department library. The department also ensures visiting faculty members contribute regularly and nurtures a well-rounded academic environment. The department is presently a centre of Pre-PhD course work (Commerce and Management) and research activities. Faculty members and students are being conducting research on wide range of issues of Public Finance, Cooperate Finance, Green Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing and other contemporary issues of Indian and Uttar Pradesh Economies.

About Programme:

The Department of Commerce offers B.Com (H) at the under graduate level. The course provides a dynamic learning environment to its students to pursue excellence, gain knowledge and acquire skills to achieve their goals. It is a 3 year (six semesters) full time programme which aims at providing comprehensive insight and specialization in Finance, Marketing, Human Management, Banking & Insurance and Entrepreneurship which play an important role in today's dynamic business environment. After completing B. Com (H) a student can go for any of the following career options:

Master of Commerce

Master of Business Administration

Specialized courses in: Marketing, Finance, International Business, Human Resource Development and Law

Entrepreneurship

Company Secretary and Chartered Accountancy etc.

About Programme:

The Department is offering Master of Commerce from academic year 2018-19. The rigor in curriculum and pedagogy aims to bring laurels to the department with the prime objective of creating world class academic in the field of commerce and business, this change in the nomenclature of the course will very well respond to the needs of industry and administration.

Required documents at the time of Admission

1. Original and a photocopy of the certificate showing the marks obtained in the last University/Board examination.

2. Original and a photocopy of the character certificate from the Principal of the college/school last attended.

3. Original and a photocopy of Senior Secondary certificate.

4. A copy of the matriculation or other certificate evidencing the date of birth.

5. In case of students coming from other University/School, migration

6. certificate from that University/School. Please note this document in original is required at the time of admission only. Three copies of a recent passport-size photograph.

Depatrmental Facilities

LIBRARY

Department has a well-equipped and efficiently maintained Library with the latest books which functions as an invaluable aid to every aspiring scholar. The library presently boasts of an impressive stock of around 500 books. New books are added to the library through the course of each academic session. The Library staff is always available to assist students in finding material needed for their course work and other related pursuit.

COMPUTER LAB

Department has the facility of computer lab taking care of the changing environment focusing on the overall development of students.

SEMINAR ROOM

The department also has the facility of seminar room for encouraging creativity and fostering communication. The seminar room can seat about 100 people and is well equipped with audio-visual facilities.

Students have access to the Centralized Computer Lab Facility, University's library and other state-of-art Infrastructure facilities. The University's library has a vast collection of books and journals catering to different areas of specialization in commerce and business.
