With growing industrial demand and the need of the day, the University started "Sir Chhotu Ram Institute of Engineering & Technology" from the session 2002-2003 under Self-finance Scheme.
The Institute was initially started in one of the newly constructed University building but considering the space requirement of an Engg. College, construction of a new building was also simultaneously taken up. The new building was completed in July 2003 and a number of workshops and laboratories were setup in the building and the teaching of 3rd semester students was also taken up leaving the class work of 1 st semester in the old building.
Though the present Director Prof H.S.Singh joined the Institute in March 2006 but being a highly devoted, experienced and competent person, he has been able to set up a number of workshops and labs in the old and new buildings. In addition, we have also succeeded in recruiting about 25 additional faculty members with qualification as per AICTE norms. The contribution of Prof. D.Pandey, Dean Faculty of Technology was also very highly encouraging as he had always been guiding and rendering full cooperation to the Director. The Present Dean Prof.Rakesh Kumar is also very active and coperative. Our Administrative Officer Brig (Retd.) M.S. Dhaka has very extensive administrative experience in the armed forces as well as in educational institutions of repute.
It's a matter of great pride that our Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor has been kind enough to sanction a full-fledged project for the new campus of the Institute costing a bout Rs. 20 crores. Construction has a I ready been taken up for Administrative Block, four Academic Blocks, library, workshops, a boys hostel having 200 seats and a girls hostel of 50 seats, canteen and a substation on a sprawling plot of more than 10 Acres. Major part of the building is ready . The Academic Council of the University has approved a proposal for starting new branch of Electronics & Instrumentation Course with 60 seats and 20 seats have been enhanced in Electronics & Communication Engg. and Mechnical Engg. each.
